La cité des couleurs
Triggered by my curiousity to art I wonder about all kinds of (public) street art, surrounding us and regularly hardly noticed, because of the ‘natural‘ locations of it’s presence.
With subjects as critical notes to (local) culture or politics, street art is sometimes unauthorized, butis more and more an accepted piece of work. Beeing found in public or private area, street art is regularly cheering up desolate locations with a cacophony of colors.
Despite its wide acceptance, there is still the everlasting discussion about street art being art or not.
I guess it is like all the other creative expressions, some is and some isn’t. History has proven that ‘new visions’ are not always immediatly excepted in it’s present period.
How thankful should the public be for this free creative expressions in public, approachable for everyone, with a freedom of vision to qualify and have interaction with it the way you want.
With the project La cité des couleurs (the city of colors), I am capturing the interaction, creativity, beauty and color of this expression and combining it with the beauty of the human being. To capture this display of creativity, I endeavour to combine both the buildings and the persons in one picture. Expressing respect to everything & everyone in the composition,
